Kejia Mold Base is supporting the stable advancement of Japan’s EVs market
Mar 17 , 2025

While the development of electric vehicles (EVs) in international markets outside China has slowed, some automakers are adjusting their pure EV strategies.

According to a report by Nikkei, Shibaura Machine (formerly Toshiba Machine) plans to launch ultra-large die casting machines, targeting annual sales of 10 units. The company aims to develop machines with clamping forces ranging from 6,100 tons to 12,000 tons, with the latter capable of producing large integrated die-cast automotive components. The report states that Shibaura Machine will debut its ultra-large die casting machines as early as March this year. Integrated die-casting technology is seen as pivotal for simplifying EV manufacturing processes and significantly reducing costs.

Currently, Chinese die casting machine manufacturers, automakers, and Tier 1 suppliers lead the global market in this field. Internationally renowned automakers such as Tesla, Toyota, Honda, Volvo, and Volkswagen are actively adopting the technology. The trend of using "integrated die-casting technology" in pure EV manufacturing is expected to expand further, prompting Japanese and foreign companies to accelerate client acquisition in this sector.

UBE Machinery Corporation, a subsidiary of Ube Industries, developed a 9,000-ton clamping force die casting machine in August 2024 and secured an order from Toyota. The machine will be supplied to Toyota’s Kamigo Plant, with plans for installation at the Tahara Plant. UBE Machinery launched sales of its 6,500-ton model in 2022, which has already received an order from Ryobi Limited and is scheduled for delivery this month.

Meanwhile, Honda’s Japanese plant has introduced a Bühler 6,100-ton ultra-large die casting machine for integrated die-casting technology and product application development.

Kejia Mold Base has consistently focused on new energy vehicle integrated die-casting mold base projects, boasting outstanding expertise and a strong track record. In November 2024, the company exhibited at the Japan Die Casting Expo, where it received an enthusiastic response, with a continuous stream of inquiries and quotes. Kejia Mold Base has previously supplied mold bases to renowned Japanese mold manufacturers, earning recognition for its quality. While Japan’s new energy vehicle market is not expanding as rapidly as China’s, its traditional emphasis on craftsmanship prioritizes steady progress. Leveraging superior quality and extensive experience in integrated die-casting projects, Kejia Mold Base is supporting the stable advancement of Japan’s EVs market.
