According to Nikkei reported on August 20, Toyota Motor Corporation will be introduced in 2024 in Aichi plant for integrated molding body parts of Giga-casting technology, will be used for the production of electric vehicle parts.

According to the report, Toyota is preparing for full-scale production of electric vehicles by accelerating the introduction of the latest equipment, which can mold 1/3 of the body in 3 minutes. Giga-casting reduces the cost of electric vehicles and is now being adopted by companies such as Tesla.

Planned as early as this year in its factory in Aichi, Japan, the introduction of large-scale Giga-casting equipment, the casting equipment will be manufactured by Japan's UBE, the clamping force of 9,000 tons, belonging to the largest level of Japan's domestic one of the largest class of die casting machine.

Toyota plans to apply this technology to its premium Lexus brand's next-generation all-electric vehicle, the “LF-ZC”, starting in 2026. The body will be divided into three main sections: front, center and rear, with the front and rear sections molded using Giga-casting technology. It has been revealed that the prototype has successfully reduced the 86 parts and 33 processes for the rear section to one part and one process.
